Pest control with microwaves for fixed parts
When pest control of woodworms and xylophages (termites, anobids and others) concerns unmovable parts or wooden structures, carrying out a successful disinfestation is more troublesome than treating movable items.
Anoxic treatment technique is used less on unmovable structures because of the higher costs due to more devices employed for the same spaces treated. In addition, the continuous operation of the devices can’t be unplugged once anoxia is achieved.
Given this scenario, alternative treatments can’t offer a 100% effectiveness as it occurs with anoxia pest control. However, a professional execution provides a very high percentage of success, sometimes permanent.
Microwaves treatment
Heat treatment consists of bringing up the internal temperature of the object processed to, at least, 64°C.
We propose, among the many thermal methods available on the market, the microwave treatment, which shows several advantages over other systems, such as aerothermia.
Greater guarantee of success against woodworm
The microwave’s strong point is the controlled heating diffusion: heating starts from the innermost section of the processed material towards the outer ones, always providing the correct temperature whereas other systems fail, given the low wood conductive capacity.
To this end, we employ mobile microwave systems, such as “Misya Evolution”.
Two nozzles simultaneously address the heat to any position and at any height. The system consumes around 3000 W per emitter and allows to regulate the heating of surfaces more slowly and evenly, thus reducing risks;
Heat treatments, in fact, can generate – under very rare conditions – slight variations in the colour of the wood due to the higher temperature.
These side effects which seldom occur, impact on a millimetrical spot and can be easily removed with specific wood maintenance treatments.
Heating treatment is monitored using thermometers or thermal imaging cameras, which ensure the maximum guarantee on treatment, and real-time display of the temperature of the objects.
Even though the microwave process is the most effective among the anoxic treatment alternatives, in addition we recommend to our customers at least a combined permethrin-based treatment
