The archive houses over five thousand documents covering a chronological span of over a millennium, from the Carolingian period to date.

In the picture, you can see the anoxic intervention carried out through the creation of several enclosures made of a special gas barrier film, where a modified atmosphere was created inside with the VELOXY® System.

No chemicals harmful to man or the works were used, only nitrogen, a gas that is normally present in the air we breathe.

The Archives -one of the largest and most reknowned in Italy- houses an incredible heritage of documents from the 8th century onwards, dramatically important for historical, historical-artistic, linguistic, palaeographic, and diplomatic studies.

The image of this intervention shows the potential of the VELOXY® System even on large volumes. The enclosures created by our specialists were designed to contain over 1200 linear meters of archival units, which were transported from the conservation areas with the utmost care, respecting the original cataloging. The normal activity of the archives was not interrupted during the intervention

Inside the enclosures – sealed by a unique barrier film-  we created a modified atmosphere through the VELOXY® System, without resorting to chemical substances, using only nitrogen.

Nitrogen is the same gas humans normally breathe every day; a gas that isn’t harmful to humans, or animals and that respects paper works.

Anoxic pest control against xylophagous insects with Veloxy® System

This works dealt with anoxic pest control disinfestation made by RGI specialists on a wooden screw press from 1700.

The intervention was carried out for Nicola Restauri, one of the most famous restoration workshops in the world.

The press was treated using the Veloxy® System, which enabled us to create a nitrogen-based modified atmosphere.

The picture shows some details of the tailor-made enclosure created at the Customer’s premises.

The Veloxy® System can work in every kind of environment without posing any risks to the Art Work and the health of the staff performing the treatment.

Also, Egyptian Museums rely on Veloxy® technology for their priceless artworks.

During the next months the 22 real mummies – unique in the world- will be moved safely; the transport to the new museum will be carried out in a modified atmosphere created by the Veloxy system. The images show the treatment performed on a mummy with its sarcophagus and other ancient items.
